Mediajoy Pinhole Lens PH28
A pinhole in a lens barrel, for Leica screw mount and Praktica M42. No glass, no focusing — just the oldest way of making a picture.
The pinhole camera descends from the camera obscura: a darkened room with a small hole in one wall. The idea is old enough that Leonardo da Vinci wrote about it. An image appears on the surface opposite the hole, and you can trace it to draw.
Because there is no glass, there is no focal length to speak of and nothing to focus. Mounted on a Leica screw or Praktica body, the lens works at any distance; the effective aperture follows from the depth of the body.
Working out the aperture
Divide the distance from the pinhole to the film plane by 0.3 mm.
The result is not sharp in the way a camera lens is sharp. It is soft in a manner that belongs to the pinhole alone, and black and white film suits it particularly well.
