View Camera Adapter 45 / 69

Mounts an SLR — film or digital — on the back of a 4×5 or 6×9 view camera, so that movements and a century of lenses become available to it.

A metal adapter that fits a 4×5 or 6×9 view or field camera and, through the supplied mount adapters, accepts an SLR body: Canon EOS EF and the other major mounts. Supplied as an international-standard adapter board together with the mount, in 4×5 and 6×9 sizes.

What it gives you

• Fits any view or field camera with an international-standard back
• Works with digital and film bodies alike
• On an APS-C sensor the smaller image circle allows a great deal more movement
• Tilt and shift where the work demands it — product photography above all
• With a digital body, shift the camera to take one subject as several frames and stitch them, for a far larger print than the sensor alone would give
• The bellows of a large or medium format camera make close-up work straightforward
• Any lens that will go on the board can be used — Horseman 69, Linhof Technika and most other medium and large format cameras

With an SLR fitted, the film or sensor plane sits further back than the view camera's own film plane. With short focal lengths the bellows may not compress far enough to reach infinity. Cameras with a non-standard back frame, or with a ground glass that cannot be removed, cannot take this adapter.
