Der Rollei Click — The Story of a Camera Brand
A German television documentary on Rollei, made by NDR with support from the Lower Saxony film fund. Released in Japan by Mediajoy on DVD and VHS.
What the film covers
The founders. Paul Franke and Reinhold Heidecke, and the early days of the firm they built. The previously unpublished photographs alone are worth the running time for anyone who follows the brand.
The auction. Breker, the camera auction held twice a year in Cologne. Several well-known Japanese collectors appear.
Singapore. The large factory established there to bring production costs down, and what it meant for the company.
The singing slide reporter. A slide show given with a Rollei projector, sung rather than narrated. It is the part people remember.
