Meiki Raisan — In Praise of Great Cameras, Vols. 1–8
Chotoku Tanaka on the cameras that photographed their century — Leica, FED, Speed Graphic. Eight volumes, about forty-five minutes each.
The web series Meiki Raisan, first published in the magazine PhotovoiceBB, collected on disc.
Ten years after his book of the same name, the photographer Chotoku Tanaka returned in the autumn of 2003 to speak about these cameras again — what he could say now that he could not say then. What comes through is affection, plainly stated, for the machines themselves.
- Vol. 1 — More about cameras than can be said
- Vol. 2 — Nostalgia for light
- Vol. 3 — The door beyond art
- Vol. 5 — The appeal of a professional's tools
Reviewed in the March 2003 issue of the monthly magazine Shashin Kogyo.
